Facilities to offer the best care for exotic pets.
At CJ Hall Vets, we have everything needed to diagnose, treat and hospitalise all types of pets
Spacious consultation rooms
Many of our patients may be tiny, but we like to make space for their pet parents! Our main consultation room can fit several people plus baby buggies, ideal if you cant leave the family at home. Despite our victorian building, we are wheelchair accessable (reception and main consultation room accessable by temporary ramp over 2 steps to main enterance - please telephone reception on arrival and we wil do all we can to assist.) Regrettably we cannot provide wheelchair accessible toilet facilities.
Please note: Due to current Covid restrictions we are not allowing clients into consultation areas, but hopefully in the (near?!) future this will change
Comfortable reception
In a past life our building was a Victorian dairy and we love our exposed Victorian tiled flooring. These days we ask you to take a seat in our air-conditioned reception and wonder at the range of animals that we see at any one time!
We have provided some high shelf areas to keep you pet of the floor and away from other animals if required to reduced stress. We are also happy to pop reptiles in a vivarium to keep them warm whilst you wait.
You can browse our range of pet foods and supplements for our range of exotic patients including Vetark vitamins and supplements, Emeraid recovery foods, Harrisons bird pellets, Tidymix parrots diets, Arcadia bird lamps, selected range of reptile UV lighting and heating.
We also stock a range of parrot toys to give your bird a treat for visiting the vet!
Specialised and seperate hospitalisation facilities
Behind the scenes we are not your average vet clinic! We have a wide range of enclosures to provide the perfect environment for every pet.
We house predator and prey species seperately to reduce stress.
We have 14 vivaria with UV and heat provision for all manner of reptiles and birds.
Safe anaesthesia
We understand that general anaesthesia can be a worry for rabbits and exotic pet owners. There is always some risk with anaesthetics however frustratingly other (non specialist) vets often cite very high death rates which can be a due to a combination of outdated protocols, lack of experience and lack of equipment.
At CJ Hall we do all we can to make anaesthetics as safe as possible -
Modern anaesthetic agents including sevoflurane and isoflurane
Multiparameter monitoring
Mechanical ventilator for patients down to 30 grams
All rabbits intubated (or V-gel used)
Our tried and tested rabbit anaesthesia protocol of light sedation and sevoflurane induction - safe as possible in even the sickest and oldest rabbits.
The saying goes “There are no safe anesthetic agents; there are no safe anesthetic procedures; there are only safe anesthetists.” Not quite true, but we believe in the last part! Head vet Matthew lectures vets and students alike on exotic pet and rabbit anaesthesia, so we would like to think we are at the top of our game.
