Animal Services


Birds

What do we treat? We treat all species of bird; raptors, parrots and parrot-like, waterfowl, racing pigeons, game birds, domestic fowl and ratites. Aviary inspections, quarantine work, post mortems and post purchase inspections are all available. 

Diagnostics: We are well equipped to diagnose your bird's condition with a hospital standard x-ray machine and automatic processor, ultrasound scanner, endoscopy and on site laboratory facilities.

Surgical procedures: The surgery has isoflurane anaesthesia and diathermy to minimize surgical risk. There is an operating microscope and microsurgical equipment for those very small avian patients. We have full endoscopy facilities including video-endoscopy (we also offer DNA sexing and micro-chipping). We have a full range of high-speed air drills for beak repairs and ring removals.

Hospitalization: We have full hospitalization facilities with temperature regulated hospital tanks as well as nebulization and piped oxygen for respiratory cases.

Diets and Supplements: We stock a full range of supplements for your bird's health as well as veterinary approved avian diets.

Check ups: The practice offers post purchase checks for new birds.

Boarding facilities are available all year including Christmas and Bank holidays. Please book in advance of peak times.

Mammals

What do we treat? Our clients include pygmy hedgehogs, coatamundis, golden tamarinds, chinchillas, otters, bats and monkeys. We treat non-domestic mammals. We provide a referral/second opinion for those difficult rabbit cases. We carry out complex dental procedures on rabbits and chinchillas.

Diagnostics: We are well equipped to diagnose your exotic pet's condition with a hospital standard x-ray machine and automatic processor, ultrasound scanner, endoscopy, ECG and on-site laboratory facilities to reducing the time spent to reach a diagnosis.

Surgical procedures: The surgery has a fully equipped dedicated operating theatre with isoflurane anaesthesia, air drills, diathermy (a cutting system which minimizes blood loss), ultrasound and Doppler (to monitor anaesthetics) operating microscopes, surgical suction and video-endoscopy. We have full surgical facilities for operating on all species.

Hospitalization: We have full hospitalization facilities with temperature regulated hospital tanks as well as nebulization and piped oxygen for respiratory cases.

Diets and Supplements: We stock a full range of supplements as well as veterinary approved rabbit, guinea pig, ferret, rat, chinchilla and hamster diets.

Boarding facilities are available all year, including Christmas and Bank holidays.

Darting: The practice is licensed for and uses a dart rifle for capture of larger mammals such as Deer.

Reptiles and Amphibians

What do we treat? We treat all species from the smallest anole to the largest anaconda. We also treat amphibians.

Diagnostics: We are well equipped to diagnose your exotic pet's condition with a hospital standard x-ray machine and automatic processor, ultrasound scanner, endoscopy and on site laboratory facilities.

Hospitalization: We have full hospitalization facilities with temperature regulated hospital tanks. The practice has 20 vivaria with temperature control and UV light available for hospitalization and boarding.

Surgical procedures: The surgery has a fully equipped dedicated operating theatre with isoflurane anaesthesia, air drills, diathermy (a cutting system which minimizes blood loss), ultrasound and Doppler (to monitor anaesthetics) operating microscopes, surgical suction and video-endoscopy. We have full surgical facilities for operating on all species (including for example removing eggs and bladder stones from tortoises, neutering iguanas, exploratory operations in snakes).

Diets and Supplements: We stock a full range of supplements as well as tortoise, turtle and iguana diets. We supply care sheets for husbandry and diet.

Check ups: The practice offers pre and post hibernation checks for tortoises as well as post purchase checks for new reptiles.

Boarding facilities are available all year, including Christmas and Bank holidays.

We are members of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinary Surgeons.

Fish

What do we treat? We are happy to see coldwater, tropical and marine species and we can carry out home visits to assess ponds or aquaria.

Diagnostic Facilities: We have extensive water testing facilities on site.

Surgical procedures: We use a fish operating-table! and MS222, a fish anaesthetic with a high safety margin. The practice also has a post mortem service.

Medicated feeds and water treatments are prepared at the surgery.

We are members of the Fish Veterinary Society.
